Community Development Investment Review: Creative Placemaking


This issue (Volume 10, Issue 2) of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Community Development Investment Review includes a variety of articles about creative placemaking, from discussions about what it is and how it can impact a community to frameworks to guide project development to case studies. Creative placemaking is when artists, arts organizations, and community development practitioners deliberately integrate arts and culture into community revitalization work – placing arts at the table with land-use, transportation, economic development, education, housing, infrastructure, and public safety strategies.
